Great Show, But Not So Great Venue

Show was fantastic, but the seating was horrible. We were stacked like sardines. The seats were so close together that the seats in front of us dug into our knees just below the knee cap. I could not even cross my legs and was in a dress, so I could not sit with my legs open. My boyfriend could at least sit with his legs apart, but was still super uncomfortable. To add to the two hours of constant discomfort, we had to endure rediculously long bathroom lines (yes, the men's, too) and the woman's bathroom smelled like a dirty hamster cage. The entire theater was outdated. I wish we could have seen this fantastic show at another theater.

Timeless

Many people think that you only need to see a broadway show once. That’s not the case here! The talent of the actors ceases to amaze me. The two males leads were fabulous. Everyone always waits to see how this Phantom will do and he didn’t disappoint. But who I found most impressive was our Raoul. The understudy should be moved up to the first position! Staging was creative. The stairs appearing with the lighting as the Phantom escorted Kristine to his world was heart-stopping. I’m so grateful for the creative traveling stage that enables groups to come to Hawaii. My only disappointment is the Hawaii audience that only gave the cast a standing ovation and no additional curtain calls.

First time

It was my first time but I was not too impressed. Have not seen the big one in New York but I had the feeling that this is a mini version adjusted to fit the smaller theaters. The Phantom 's singing and performance were just ok and it made me wonder if it was because he had been performing for more than a month in Hawaii!!! An amateur guess: Emotionally drained??? There were a few great moments that gave me goosebumps but overall performance was not what I had hoped to see! A side note on the audience: it's not ok to chew and drink loudly in the theaters especially at an opera night! And please do not sell popcorns at an opera! It doesn't help people with no common sense! The loud chewing popcorns and draining cokes is an absolutely nightmare when you are trying to enjoy the music!

Outstanding

I wasn't told until after the event that a highschool put on the performance...I would have thought it was a proffessional group. The students were phenominal. The highlight of the night, by far, was the girl who played the lead role...I believe the character name was "Christine" and according to the cast list, her name was Allison Davis. Her voice was the best I have ever heard live. She absolutely lit up the stage every moment she was on it. She clearly has a promising future and I would pay to go to any show if I knew that she was in it.
